Lauren Elizabeth James, a professional footballer from the United Kingdom, was born on September 29, 2001.

James was born in London, England parents Emma and Nigel James. She is Reece James’s younger sister.

Her mother is English, while her father is of Grenadian and Dominican descent.

Lauren James career

James was first seen by Arsenal when she was 13 years old. She began training with the boys’ squad, but after two years, she was promoted to the first team.

On October 29, 2017, James made her Arsenal debut, replacing Lisa Evans in the 67th minute in a 2-0 victory over Everton. She went on to become Arsenal’s second-youngest player.

On July 13, 2018, it was revealed that James will be a member of the first professional Manchester United team to participate in the newly reorganised 2018-19 FA Women’s Championship.

James scored United’s first-ever WSL goal on September 28, 2019, in a 2-0 victory over Liverpool. He scored in the 71st minute. After earning two yellow cards two weeks later, James was dismissed during United’s 3-0 league victory away at Tottenham Hotspur.

James signed her first professional deal with the club on December 16. James finished the 2019-20 season as United’s best scorer and was named to the PFA Women’s Young Player of the Year shortlist of four players.

On March 27, 2021, James scored the first goal in a 2-0 league victory over West Ham United. The game was the first FA WSL game to be played at Old Trafford.

On July 23, 2021, James committed to a four-year contract with Chelsea. She scored the club’s first goal in a 9-0 road victory over Leicester City on March 27, 2022.

James made 33 appearances across all leagues and competitions in her second season with Chelsea, scoring 8 goals, including 5 in the WSL.

She received the Young Player Of The Year Award at the Women’s Football Awards for her accomplishments during the 2022–23 season. James signed a contract to stay at Chelsea until 2027, it was revealed in June 2023.

James made her under-17 debut in a 2-0 friendly loss to the USA in April 2017. She led England to a 10-0 victory over Latvia on October 14, 2017, scoring four goals in the process as they qualified for the 2018 UEFA Women’s Under-17 Championship.

James was initially called up to the under-19 team for the Algarve Tournament in January 2019. James was included in the England roster for the 2019 UEFA Under-19 Championship in Scotland in July 2019.

James was called up for the first time to the senior national squad in November 2020 as part of a 29-player training camp at St George’s Park.

James made her senior debut against Austria as a 79th-minute replacement during England’s 2023 World Cup qualifying match on September 3, 2022.

She scored her first goal for England at the Arnold Clark Cup on February 16, 2023, when England defeated South Korea 4-0.

On May 31, 2023, James was named to the FIFA Women’s World Cup roster. She scored the game-winning goal in England’s 1-0 triumph against Denmark in their second Group D encounter.

Later, in their last group encounter against China, she scored twice, assisted three times, and was named player of the match.
